Day of Caring 2009

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED.

Post event report!

Overview

September 11, 2009 marks the United Way of Volusia/Flagler Counties third annual Day of Caring (DOC). On this day, volunteers join United Way partner agencies to work on one-time service projects.  Participating agencies are matched with volunteer groups from local businesses who choose to give their time and services in an effort to impact our community’s needs. Ideally projects will begin after our Campaign Kick-off Breakfast and end no later than 3:00pm. Keeping in mind that all projects should stay within a four hour time period, alternate project start times may be agreed upon by individual agencies and their volunteer team.

September 11th, a National Day of Service & Remembrance, marks the culmination of President Obama’s United We Serve charge. This summer, the President is calling on all Americans to participate in our nation’s recovery and renewal by serving in out communities. There are many ways to get involved. America’s new foundation will be built one community at a time – and it starts with you. "United We Serve" is a nationwide service initiative that will help meet growing social needs resulting from the economic downturn. With the knowledge that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools, President Obama is asking us to come together to help lay a new foundation for growth.

Day of Caring is a unique opportunity for companies and its employees to work together with local agencies to achieve a common goal that ultimately betters our community.  It is a wonderful team-building activity that also markets your company favorably to the community.
