The 2010 “Outstanding Volunteers of the Year” Awards Luncheon was be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. Held in conjunction with National Volunteer Week and Florida Volunteer Month, this event honored this year’s finalists and winners for their incredible contributions to our community during 2010. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT AND SUPPORTED THESE AMAZING VOLUNTEERS!

We hope that you will join us this year in celebrating our outstanding volunteers.  This is always a heartwarming and fun event for all.  Check out the pictures from the past two years!

 

 

 

Nomination Selection Criteria:
Each nominee will be evaluated by a panel of involved citizens and community leaders based on the criteria listed below:

  • Nominee contributed a needed service to the community during the 2010 calendar year.
  • Involvement of the nominee was active, not figurehead.
  • Nominee initiated new programs or activities and/or used new methods to solve problems.
  • Amount of time devoted to the activity or service was significant.
  • Nominee overcame unusual challenges, such as limited resources or public perceptions of the problems.

The selection panel has the ultimate responsibility in determining the final selection of the award winners. Their determination is based on the following criteria:

  • Need - contributed to a needed service.
  • Action - active involvement
  • Initiative - created a solution, novelty desired
  • Achievement - accomplished results
  • Impact - produced change, provided example
  • Time - devoted significant amount of time
  • Challenge - met personal/external challenges

The Volunteer Center of Volusia-Flagler Counties distributes awards in eight different categories:

  • Youth under 18
  • Adult between 18 and 54
  • Senior 55 and older
  • Civic/Community Group
  • Corporate group
  • Youth Group
  • Faith Based Group
  • Family

Additional awards include the Local Make A Difference Day Project of the Year Award and the Overall LIVE UNITED COMMUNITY AWARD.

Individualized awards are presented, which may include the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service award, based on completed service hours. All winners and runners-up are also forwarded to the Hands-On Network to be considered for the Daily Points of Light Awards program.
RULES:

  • Nomination must be received no later than 5:00 PM ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2011.
  • Nomination forms must be typed and filled out completely. An incomplete, handwritten or unsigned nomination form will be disqualified. Form submitted without requested photographs will also be disqualified. There will not be ANY exceptions.
  • Nominations forms will only be accepted from non-profit/501(c)3 agencies, schools and governmental agencies.
  • Two electronic photos of the nominee must accompany each nomination-emailed to Lzublionis@unitedwayvfc.org. Photos must be in the jpeg (.jpg) format. Please label each photograph with the nominee’s name. Please do not send the photos embedded into other programs or files. Jpeg attachments are required.
  • Please do not submit any additional supplementary information, as it will not be considered.
  • Award considerations are based solely on contributions to organizations during the 2010 calendar year. Please focus your responses on the volunteer’s efforts in 2010.
  • If you are nominating a husband/wife team or a family, please do so as one of the group categories listed. Couples/Families/Groups will not be considered if entered as individuals.
  • Selection Committee decisions are final. Nomination forms become the property of the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties’ Volunteer Center.
  • Self-nominations will not be accepted.
