Daytona 5K Logo

This is an annual event held at the Daytona International Speedway. A portion of the proceeds benefit the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.  At least 110 volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of the race.  Please see below for specific assignments and time commitments.

If you are interested in volunteering, below are a list of the positions:

Saturday January 23rd at UW office 10am-2pm: Athlete Bag Stuffers - 10 volunteers, ages 6 & older  – will help stuff athletes bags before the event.

Set-up and Take-down Crew – 5 strong volunteers, ages 18 & older, who will work on Friday, January 29th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Saturday from 5:00 AM until 10am    

Pre-Race Registration (Friday, January 29th, 1030-230 and 2-6)

10 volunteers, ages 16 & older, will work with staff on registration.  These volunteers will hand out race numbers, t-shirts, swim caps, etc.

Saturday -   Race Day Volunteers—January 30th—all volunteers must be on-site at the track by 4:45am! We are generally done by 9:30am.

Registration: 10 volunteers, ages 16 & older, will work with staff on registration.  These volunteers will hand out race numbers, t-shirts, swim caps, etc. These volunteers are also our Post-Race Volunteers and will work the Post Race Coordinator to set up the food and refreshments for the race.  They will also help set up the awards for the awards ceremony!

Finish Line – 15 people – these volunteers, ages 12 & older,  will take timing chips from athletes at the finish line and help hand out water at the finish line. 

Parking – 10 people –these volunteers, ages 18 & older,  will direct athletes to parking lots before and after the race. 

Run Course Volunteers – 10 people –these volunteers, ages 10 & older, will be positioned at various turns along the course.  They will direct athletes on the run course. 

Run Course Aid Stations –20 people, ages 10 & older, – 10 people per aid stations – 2 stations along the course.  Volunteers will hand out water and Gatorade. 

Bag Drop Volunteers-8 people, ages 12 & older, are needed to oversee the area in which participants can leave personal items while racing.

Superstretch Cheering Section-20 Volunteers, ages 6 & up, will be needed to provide added support and expressions of gratitude to race participants along the track’s Superstretch.

Total of 110 volunteers needed for this event.
